Nestled in the foothills of Mount Leinster in Fenagh, County Carlow you will find Petros and Catherine Konsoulas who established The Soul of Crete in 2015.  Priding themselves on bringing the finest quality Greek-inspired produce to Ireland.  We chat to Petros and Catherine below to find out more about their healthy and tasty foods.

I am Greek and a big part of our culture is about food. The Soul of Crete is an Irish food company marrying the flavours and benefits of the Mediterranean diet through the products that they produce and source. We got started when we were looking for a healthier alternative to chocolate spread for our son – our chocolate tahini is based on a traditional family Greek recipe and contains only 1.5 teaspoons of brown sugar per jar, no palm oil additives, preservatives or hidden sugars.

We are sourcing our raw ingredients from local producers/companies where possible.

To produce a product which has a real nutritional benefit to a customer and one that doesn’t compromise on taste.

We are the only producer of tahini in Ireland and the first chocolate flavoured tahini.

Our chocolate Tahini.

Yes, but nothing that we can share yet.

You can use our chocolate tahini as a spread on crackers, in porridge, natural yoghurt, pancakes, smoothies or just with a piece of fruit.

Supevalu in the food academy section in Kildare, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Cork. IT i also available in the Health Store – they have 11 branches across Leinster.

We also source high quality Greek products such as our global award winning extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegars, olive paste and seasoning mixes from small producers in Greece. Thees also also available through our distributor across the country.
